Tooth to Tail Consultations

ennis-vet-clinic-consultationsWe recommend examining your pet twice a year for our ‘tooth to tail examinations’. At one of these visits we recommend your pet receives an annual vaccination (see ‘dog or cat healthcare sections on our website). The second health check is a free of charge service that we offer with our veterinary nurse to ensure that your pet is at their ideal weight and no health problems have arisen since your last visit.

Twice-a-Year Exams

Twice-a-year exams for your dog or cat are the true centerpiece of preventive health care. It is during these comprehensive physical exams that all health variables are evaluated together to better assess your pet’s immediate health care needs.

Why Twice a Year?

The early phase of a serious condition can quietly develop inside a perfectly healthy-looking dog or cat. But remember: Dogs and cats age far more quickly than we do, becoming middle-aged by their 4th birthday. Their diseases can also advance quickly, so they require more frequent monitoring.

Twice-a-year comprehensive physical exams (and blood tests if necessary) can spot a disease in its beginning stages before your dog or cat shows any obvious signs. Whenever possible we want to treat problems early when your pet is still feeling fine, before they experience any discomfort. Plus, detecting a problem early can help ensure a better prognosis, more simple treatment, an earlier recovery and reduced medical expenses.

How Comprehensive Are the Exams?

Very. Comprehensive physical examinations conducted at Ennis Veterinary Clinic provide an in-depth assessment of your pet’s overall health, establish important baselines and meticulously inspect your pet from tooth to tail:

  • Ear and Eye Examination
  • Cardiopulmonary (Heart and Lung) analysis
  • Temperature Reading
  • Abdominal Palpation
  • Dental Exam
  • Dermatological Exam
  • Musculoskeletal Evaluation
  • Weight & nutrition counseling
  • Coat & skin evaluation
  • Behavioral counseling
  • Preventative healthcare evaluation including flea and worm regimes

For you and your pet’s convenience we operate an appointment based system. This is to eliminate long waiting times in the waiting room. Please phone us on 065 67 97 444 for an appointment and we will facilitate your requirements.

Your pet’s medical details are entered on a specialised veterinary computer system. This allows us to record all medical, surgical, dietary and other important information in order to build up a detailed record of your pet’s health.
